AREA CODES

Top Area Codes of 2023

Most popular area codes in 2023 remain consistent with previous years. The top two are 212, which is associated with New York City, NY, and 310, associated with Los Angeles, CA. These area codes are frequently sought after due to their association with these major cities.

New York's 212 area code is particularly popular and prestigious, often seen as a status symbol and an indicator of being a long-time resident in the city. Similarly, the 310 area code of Los Angeles is also highly coveted, as it is linked to the city's glamour and entertainment industry.

Other popular area codes include 305 for Miami, FL, 702 for Las Vegas, NV, 202 for Washington, DC, and 415 for San Francisco, CA. These area codes carry a certain level of prestige and identity connected to their respective cities.

If you’re a freelancer or solopreneur looking for a reliable phone system, Voiply is definitely worth checking out. The call quality is super clear, even on their starter plan—which also includes built-in CNAM (a nice bonus you usually pay extra for elsewhere). Right now, they’re offering 50% off, which makes it a no-brainer if you’re just getting set up or want to upgrade your setup without breaking the bank. What really impressed me, though, was their support team. They're available 24/7, quick to respond, and they actually know what they’re doing. That kind of service is rare. Also, their KYC (Know Your Customer) process adds a layer of professionalism that shows they take security and compliance seriously—great if you’re working with sensitive client info. Overall, Voiply just gets what solo professionals need: clarity, support, and a system that works. Big fan.

I am using the app-based service which is more than sufficient for my sole proprietorship. It is a better price fit for me than Oomla, Grasshopper, and RingCentral. Works well with my Android and my wife's iPhone (she's my secretary). I highly recommend this service for your business line needs.

Service has been very good, Support is have very helpful and feature and updates of the service are still coming. With other provider that I have 15 years. Nothing changed price keep going up. I'm so glad I made the change.

i decided to replace my land line and purchased a VoIP system from Voiply. I paid for one year and received two months free. This saved me 165.00 over my old plan. I received everything needed in a few days and the installation was simple. I have been using the system for a few weeks now with no issues.Glad i made the change.

Yes, we still have a landline telephone. Voiply has been an excellent provider for years. The system works smoothly, including voicemail. If I ever have a question they respond very quickly. I always feel that I am chatting with a real person, not some AI-generated bot. The price is very reasonable and I recommend them highly.

I have had Voiply for the past 3 years and their service is amazing. The quality of the calls are clear. The customer service reps are so helpful. Their annual plan averages to about $13 a month(after taxes and fees) which also includes free international calls on about 50 countries. Nobody can beat that price! I've looked at other companies and many have bad reviews from the BBB. Their protection plan costs $1.00 a month. VOIPLY is rated A+ from the BBB. I highly recommend them!

Voiply was able to port verizon home phone to the voip connector to my router. It took awhile to get it away from verizon but as of today it is done, and it costs about $13.79 per month, paid annually. That is a great price for a home phone.

What is an area code?

An area code is a three-digit number that identifies a specific geographic region in the telephone network where a call is either originated or destined.

Do different states have different numbers of area codes?

Yes, some states have multiple area codes, while others have only one. For instance, California has the most with 36 area codes, while several states like Alaska and Delaware have just one.

Why do we need area codes?

Area codes are necessary for routing calls within a country and ensuring that the call reaches the correct location.

Can an area code give an indication of a phone number's origin?

Yes, a phone number's area code can give a general idea of where a call originated from, or at least where the phone number was registered.

Can I keep my area code if I move to a different state?

Yes, with voiply you can keep your number when moving to a different state.

How many area codes are there in the United States?

Are area codes unique to each city?

Not necessarily. Some large cities may have their own area codes, but smaller cities and regions may share an area code.

What happens when an area runs out of phone numbers within its existing area code?

When an area exhausts its supply of phone numbers within an existing area code, a new area code is introduced in that geographic region. This process is known as an area code split or overlay.

How are new area codes created?

New area codes are created by the North American Numbering Plan Administration (NANPA) when the existing codes in a region are projected to exhaust. The decision to add a new area code is usually made several years in advance.
